Carl Oksanen first came to Jackson Hole to work on a ranch and ride bulls and bareback horses in the rodeo. A good part of his summer and fall was spent wrangling horses, taking out pack trips and working in hunting camps. “I have always enjoyed the mountains”, says Carl. “I find it necessary for my well being to spend time in the wilderness. The 110 miles of the Wind River Range and the Colorado Plateau are my two favorite places for adventure.”

His passion is photographing the national parks of the Intermountain West and more recently the Anasazi Indian ruins in the Four Corners Region. The 4x5 Zone VI field camera is his vehicle of choice for producing superior landscape images with the unmistakable qualities that are characteristic of his style.

With the advent of digital photography, we have entered an exciting age. Alpen Glow Images has mastered this new technology and is able to use it to full advantage. From digital capture and Photoshop enhancement, all the way to the digital output of compact disks, e-mail delivery or inkjet prints; we do it all in house.

Digital Photography is not a magic wand, although it makes possible some amazing treatments. There is no substitute for intuition and a God given talent that allows Images of His Creation to be made. I was fortunate to be in the right place when these brief instances of time were given to me to capture.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17
